FaceTime Introduces Powerful Visualization Software for Managing Global Enterprise Networks Across Multiple Locations

March 21, 2009

FaceTime Communications today introduced FaceTime InsightTM, powerful new visualization and reporting software that helps IT managers see the impact of the new Internet on their enterprise networks. Using tree mapping and a modular reporting infrastructure, FaceTime Insight provides a bird's eye view as well as in-depth visibility into Web 2.0 applications, social networking sites and all facets of enterprise Web browsing. FaceTime Insight interfaces with FaceTime's Unified Security Gateway (USG) to provide granular enterprise data visualization in terms of user behavior, usage patterns and network traffic trends.

Ideal for managing enterprise networks across multiple locations, the dynamic, multi-dimensional graphic view provided by FaceTime Insight provides total visibility into the network that has not previously been possible with legacy network management and reporting tools for Web security and data compliance.

"Visibility is the crucial first step to effectively managing network environments today, especially with the rapid adoption of Web 2.0 applications within the enterprise," said Nishant Jadhav, director of product management for FaceTime. "Most large organizations have come to the conclusion that blocking access to these applications is not an effective business solution. At the same time, they are battling network risks such as bandwidth spikes and malware attacks coupled with management issues such as compliance and worker productivity."

Data collected from more than 100 FaceTime customer network sites over the past two weeks shows employees at these companies attempted to access more than 350 Web sites categorized as social networking, and within Facebook alone, attempted to access more than 2,800 individual Facebook applications. Users also attempted to connect with more than 80 high-bandwidth multimedia and IPTV applications, more than 90 virtual worlds and more than 115 potentially dangerous P2P file sharing applications.

"Not all of the applications in a particular category are dangerous," added Jadhav. "Although the P2P category, for example, includes notorious applications such as Kazaa, Limewire and BitTorrent, it also includes Web 2.0 file transfer sites such as YouSendIt and SendSpace, which are increasingly used for the legitimate transfer of large business-oriented files. Only with proper visibility into who is accessing what applications can IT management make informed decisions about the levels of network service access to grant to various groups or individuals within the company."

About FaceTime Insight
FaceTime Insight is an easy-to-use windows server based software application that installs in a few simple steps. Managed through a secure Web based interface, FaceTime Insight assimilates data from FaceTime Unified Security Gateways at either a single site or multiple locations to provide long-term trending and compliance reports.

FaceTime Insight ships pre-populated with a large library of both summary and detail reports and charts commonly used in network environments today, alongside an intuitive report creation wizard that clearly identifies the filters and options available. Role-based access enables delegated reporting so that administrators are able to generate reports across all supported USGs for all users or just local reports for a specific set of groups or users.

Multi-dimensional tree mapping and an advanced reporting infrastructure relationship deliver an innovative solution that provides granular visibility to Web 2.0 usage and ultimately greater control of their network environment.
